What percentage of money is donated?
For all music sold through the Project Playback website, 50% of the retail price is donated to the recipient partner. For CDs that sell for $14.99, $7.50 is donated. (No portion of sales tax or shipping and handling is donated). For downloadable songs and packages, 50% of the total price is donated.
Where does the rest of the money go?
The remaining dollars pay for Project Playback's operating and marketing costs, as well as product costs for the actual music. All participateing musicians, publishers, and distributors are receiving far less than they do through normal purchasing channels to be a part of the program. The money they do receive enables them to continue to produce and record music in the future.
Can I buy CDs in bulk, and resell at my charity event?
Yes. Contact us directly and we will supply you with CDs at prices even lower than $7.50! You can then resell them at your live events and keep all profits for your organization.
Can I make an additional "cash only" donation? (Receiving no music products)
Generally, you would want to contact the organization directly and make your donation through their purchase channels.
Is my purchase through Project Playback tax deductible.
Under IRS laws, you cannot legally deduct a contribution for which you receive something of like-value in return. All music products sold here, therefore, are NOT tax deductible.
When is my money sent to my recipient organization?
All Partners have different contractual relationships with Project Playback, but most receive a total sum payment every 90 days. For groups doing a "CD selling drive" of specific duration, funds are sent upon completion of the drive.
